The compact and split algebras share a complex Lie-algebra type but not a real form. A Cartan-dual construction takes place after complexification; it is not a real norm-preserving equivalence between their norms. The exact calculations concern algebraic symmetry. Noncompact tangent generators have not been identified with particle masses, zero-divisor species or a physical gauge sector.
